Farm Events
We host several events throughout the year to promote student and community engagement. Check out our upcoming events and consider joining us.
1st Annual Winter Bonfire
The Department of Horticulture and Natural Resources welcomes the K-State Community to tour its Willow Lake Student Farm and join us for our 1st Annual Winter Bonfire on Friday, March 3rd, 2023. We will tour the farm from 1:30 – 2:00 pm, when you will have the opportunity to hear about the history and future of the farm, and learn about upcoming events and initiatives. Among our offerings this year, the farm will host:
- Spring Field Day 2023 – small-scale farming workshops and research reports
- Vegetable CSA Program – learn how to sign up for your 16-week veggie box subscription
- Student Garden Program – get your own garden plot at the farm, or participate on our 2023-season production team
- Fall Harvest Festival 2023 – hosting live music, crafts, and activities for the whole Wildcat family
The bonfire begins at 2:00 pm and will keep you warm until the sun goes down (about 6:00pm). Feel free to come and go during the bonfire. Bring a camp chair, your favorite mug, a roasting stick, and stories of your K-State and farming experiences to share. We will keep water hot for cocoa, and supply marshmallows and fixin’s for S’mores. We look forward to seeing you there!
The Willow Lake Student Farm is located immediately south of the Willow Lake within Tuttle Creek State Park. Access is through the park and no parking pass is required. If the kiosks are manned, tell them you’re headed to the Willow Lake Student Farm and they will wave you through. Please follow the link below for directions. Parking will be along Beach Drive just outside the farm, and overflow parking is available just inside the farm gates.
If you have any questions about the event or how to access the farm, please email Dr. Jeremy Cowan or Mason Klish.
