KSU Gardens - 2019 Summer Positions

The KSU Gardens are hiring students for 2019 Summer Positions
(Preference given to those that can start part-time as soon as March 18, 2019)

SALARY:

Full-time Positions (40 Hrs/Wk @ $8.75-9.50/HR.)
Part-time positions (20+/- Hrs/Wk @ $8.50-9.00/HR.)

QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Looking for students with horticulture and/or landscape construction experience.

Summer work in the Gardens includes: Installation and maintenance of annual and perennial plant materials, installation and maintenance of irrigation, landscape lighting and water features, mowing, fertility and pest management programs and assisting with various Garden events.

POSITION AVAILABLE:

Student Hourly Forestry Research

CONDITIONS: 6-15 hours per week, must be available M, W, and F. There is no guaranteed minimum number of hours, due to weather and scheduling.

POSITION AVAILABLE: Immediately

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist a graduate student in collecting various forestry-related data at the Howe Conservation Education Center, north of Manhattan, including ground cover fuel loading, identifying and counting seedlings, measuring larger trees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Kansas Driver's License.
  • Ability to work outside in hot and cold weather.
  • Ability to traverse very steep and uneven terrain in the woodland.

Preferred:

  • Passed Dendrology (PMC 330).
  • Experience in conducting research.
  • Experience in field or forestry work.

SALARY: $12/hour
