FACULTY LEADER INFORMATION

Dr. Cathie Lavis received a B.S. in Agronomy from Oklahoma State University in 1986. After graduating, Cathie managed a retail garden center and landscape company in Texas. These exposures to the horticulture industry prompted Cathie to pursue and then complete a M.S. in Ornamental Horticulture from Kansas State University in 1993 and later her Ph.D. in Agronomy in 2005. Cathie’s aspiration to create opportunities for study abroad stems from her passion for working with undergraduate students in the classroom, as an academic advisor, as an advisor for the Horticulture Club and as a team coach for a 30-plus student competition team. Since 2009, she has led trips to Costa Rica, Italy, England and Wales.
