At the Pecan Experiment Field in Southeastern Kansas, Dr. Reid works with producers in the heart of the Midwest's pecan industry. His applied research and extension program is designed to solve critical production problems faced by growers in this region. Dr. Reid states, “I get great satisfaction from seeing growers do well…I make sure my research program provides the tools pecan growers need to become successful and remain profitable.”
Dr. Reid's work reaches pecan growers across the country. He also holds field days and workshops to bring hands-on instruction directly to growers. “Over the years, we have developed a culture of life-long learning where growers profit from our research, which is focused on the concerns of Midwestern pecan producers”, Reid emphasizes.

Dr. Reid’s research interests include creating sustainable production systems for native pecans; developing pecan cultivars and orchard systems for producers in KS, MO, and IL; and domesticating black walnut for orchard nut production.
