Graduate Research Assistantship, Permaculture Methods, Kansas State University, Department of Horticulture & Natural Resources

A Master's level graduate assistantship is available in the Department of Horticulture and Natural Resources beginning January 15, 2019 to conduct research on permaculture methods assisting Dr. Jeremy Cowan, Assistant Professor in Sustainable Food Production Systems. This is part of a study on Hügelkultur beds for food crops production. Specific duties include installation of Hügel beds and documentation of bed construction. Planting, maintaining, harvesting, and collecting and analyzing data on Hügel-grown crops and bed structural changes over time will be conducted.

Helping develop technical reports and educational materials (posters, PowerPoint presentations) will be a key responsibility. In addition to an M.S. thesis, a journal-style report will also be developed. Occasional overnight travel may be required to participate in conferences and workshops across the region.
